Data Not Collected

Summary

Luna Tide: Moon & Sky ("Luna Tide", "the app") does not collect, store, sell, or share any personal data about you. There is no account, no login, no advertising, no analytics SDK, and no third-party tracking of any kind embedded in this app.

Location

If you grant permission, the app uses your device's location (via Apple's CoreLocation framework) solely to show accurate weather, sky, and air-quality information for where you are. Your coordinates are sent, anonymously and over an encrypted connection, only to the open weather/astronomy data provider described below, purely as part of the data request itself — they are never associated with an identity, never logged against you, and never stored on any server we operate (we operate no servers or databases). You can deny location access entirely and instead search for any city by name; the app works fully without ever granting location access.

Network requests

The only network calls the app makes are plain, anonymous HTTPS requests to Open-Meteo, a free and open weather/astronomy data service, to fetch:

These requests include only latitude/longitude (or a search query you typed) and contain no device identifier, advertising identifier, or account information, because none exist in this app.

On-device computation

The moon-phase visualizer, illumination percentage, next full/new moon countdowns, day length, and golden/blue-hour times are computed entirely on your device using standard public astronomical formulas. No network request is ever made for this data.

What we store

Weather and air-quality responses are cached in the app's local storage on your device (Apple's standard app cache directory) purely so the app can show your last-known data instantly and offline. Your favorite cities and unit preferences are also stored locally on your device via UserDefaults. None of this ever leaves your device or reaches us — we have no backend server and no database.

Third-party SDKs

Luna Tide embeds zero third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. All networking uses Apple's native URLSession directly against Open-Meteo's public API.

Children

Luna Tide does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children, because it collects no personal data from any user.
